Combinatorics Research Group

Finite Geometry Seminar

•  Friday, 14.15-15.45  •  ELTE Southern building, room 3.607  •  Pázmány P. sétány 1/C  •

Introduction to the seminar

The Finite Geometry Research Group was founded informally by Tamás Szőnyi in the late 80's of the last century. Formally it was formed on the 1st of July, 2013, called MTA-ELTE Geometric and Algebraic Combinatorics Research Group (GAC). Since then, the weekly Finite Geometry Seminar is organised by MTA-ELTE GAC. The seminar, as a course, is also accessible for MSc and PhD students at Eötvös University.

The main topics covered by the members are
- Galois geometries
- arcs, caps, blockings sets, semiovals, nuclei
- coding theory
- stability questions
- polynomials over finite fields.

However, the topic of the seminar is not entirely restricted to finite geometry; talks on other closely or loosely related fields of discrete mathematics are also welcome.
